Woof! Hello, dear friends!
Today, Sand Cherry was buzzing with activity. The morning started warm, almost making me want to stretch out in a sunbeam. But, as 7:30 rolled in, so did the wind, causing the temperatures to dip. During our morning chores, Grandpa’s cell phone rang. It was Ron, our hunter friend, excitedly sharing that he’d bagged a buck deer. And what timing! Grandma had errands in Brush, and we were in quite the rush.
As we drove to assist Ron, Grandpa reminded me to keep my eyes peeled. Trust my lab senses; I spotted Ron and his pickup near a landmark. Eagerly, I jumped out to inspect, though Ron hadn’t yet brought the deer over. But oh, the scent from his pants told the story!
Ron had quite the task ahead, with deep sandy terrains to navigate and drag his prized catch. But when we returned later, I was tail-waggingly excited to see the deer loaded in his camper. It was a majestic 4X4 buck, beautifully symmetrical, with no broken points. My canine inspection confirmed it! Ron, though exhausted, beamed with pride. The path he dragged the deer through? Pawsitively Herculean!
Ron shared the story of his hunt. Initially eyeing a larger buck on another property, he spotted a group of deer on our side. Among them was the buck he chose, providing him and his wife with sustenance for the cold months ahead.
The harvests around Sand Cherry have been bountiful. Several stunning bucks and robust does have been caught. We’re all hoping Todd, too, will have his share of success on his hunting day off.
With winter nipping at our paws, Grandpa and I prepared firewood for the chilly nights ahead. And as the day winds down, all I want is to snuggle with Annie by the warm stove.
Stay cozy, everyone! Until the next tail-wagging tale…
With woofs and licks,
Sasha 🐾
